Plastic. Made to last, but designed to discharge. With his plastic projects, Dave Hakkens challenges us to reconsider our consumer society. With his former project Precious Plastic, Dave developed easy to build machines that would allow people anywhere in the world to transform plastic waste into valuable things. This will clean up the environment and thus improve living conditions, and create financial value on top. Dave’s work for Room on the Roof demonstrates the value and versatility of plastic. This ‘rhinestone’ was created out of more than 17 kilos of disposed plastic, such as old cd cases. De Bijenkorf invites you to have a look at Precious Plastic by Dave Hakkens on show at the window at de Bijenkorf Amsterdam from 11 July until 3 September.
