With renovation works continuing in store, Wouters has taken one of the giant white hoardings in the main atrium as his canvas and transformed it into a stunning mural. A huge 200 square meter grid was applied to the wall made up of 22 boxes. Wouters and his team painted each one of these boxes with a large brush covered in two paint colours to create a gradient. The result is a gigantic coloured wall, resembling tile mosaics. Such hoardings are traditionally covered in “work in progress” messages so Wouters saw this as a great opportunity to develop a new visual language, unique to de Bijenkorf. This colourful and dynamic work is Wouters’ largest to date and is in store for the next five months.
