IRMA BOOM
POSTER HUNDRED FORTY FIVE YEARS DE BIJENKORF
“The design process started with Josef Muller Brockman’s logo. The hexagon (6 sides) has the shape of a honeycomb, and the curved line in the centre represents the silhouette of a beehive. When you place little diamond shapes in and around the logo and look at the hexagon carefully, you’ll see the contours of a square arising: a box, or package. De Bijenkorf has always been the go-to department store for special gifts – an absolute delight in shopping. And that’s exactly what this poster is meant to express: a package bursting with cheerfulness and colours; an abstraction of joy. It suggests movement.”
