‘Een Aanneembare Wereld’
During his Room on the Roof residency, Jeroen Bocken created a photography installation titled Een Aanneembare Wereld (An Adaptable World). For this work he travelled to the Flemish fruit region of Haspenhouw where he got inspired by the mystery of the hail cannons. These bulky inventions would so-called prevent the hail from pouring down and destroying the crops.
A fascination for how erratic our perception of reality is, plays a prominent role throughout his work. This particular work invites us to reflect on our relationship with the natural landscape and questions the position of humanity within the forces of nature. His creations demonstrate the different angels on existing phenomena, while Jeroen writes entire storylines and belief systems by using photography & other disciplines. His work fits within the identity of Room on the Roof where we work towards a future which challenges us to dream and realize many new perspectives.
