A colourful installation during Rotterdam Art Fair on the first floor of de Bijenkorf Rotterdam.
The work of Krijn de Koning interrupts the environment by adding sculptural, architectural and colourful constructions to a given location, it is site specific. At the invitation of Room on the Roof, the artist in residence of de Bijenkorf, de Koning visited the store in Rotterdam. He was immediately inspired by the architecture from Marcel Breuer, the back stage, the front stage and the spaces in between. For the location of ‘Uitgestald’ he chose the space of the old barbershop, which was completely hidden behind a wall. The forgotten area is now open for the public to show the new art installation. The work emphasizes the environment and gives the audience new possibilities to use and interpret the place. Within the installation, connections arise, spare space is visualized and new perspectives are offered. ‘Uitgestald’ by Krijn de Koning is on show on the first floor at de Bijenkorf Rotterdam from February 8th until April 1st.
