We Make Carpets
COCKTAIL CARPET – STIRRER CARPET – UMBRELLA CARPET – MINI FLAG CARPET
Collective ‘We Make Carpets’ created four carpets in de Room on the Roof. Everyday objects acquire a new meaning in the installations that are made with meditative attention. Their work originates from using a shared interest in colours, shapes and textures of everyday, mass-produced objects that we often only use once and then carelessly throw away. This also applies to the countless cocktail umbrellas, mini flags, glitter sticks and swizzle sticks which We Make Carpets used in four installations on display in de Bijenkorf Amsterdam. from 14 until 27 September 2015.
Biography We Make Carpets
‘We Make Carpets’ creates very special carpets. Artist Bob Waardenburg and designers Marcia Nolte and Stijn van der Vleuten started the collective four years ago and share the fascination for everyday archetypical products. Pasta, clothing pegs, paperclips, fry forks, toy soldiers and more are used by ‘We Make Carpets’ to create original rugs that show striking graphic patterns and celebrate the diversity of materials.
